Wolfpack Drops First Of Three-Game Series At UNC-Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The NC State softball team fell to No. 28/25 UNC-Chapel Hill, 6-0, on Friday evening at Anderson Softball Stadium in its first of a three-game series.
The Wolfpack falls to 11-19 (5-2 ACC) and the Tar Heels improve to 25-7 (6-1 ACC) on the season.
Game Rewind
-The Tar Heels jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Kendra Lynch was walked on loaded bases, and Katie Baliliff followed with an RBI single up the first base line and Destiny DeBerry was hit by a pitch on loaded bases.
-UNC-CH tacked on another run in the second inning, as Leah Murray scored from second base on Lynch's single down the left field line.
-NC State threatened in the fifth inning with two runners left on base, as Haley Finn hit a leadoff single to left field and Macauley Prickett hit a two-out single up the middle.
-The Heels extended its lead to 6-0 in the bottom frame with back-to-back home runs.
-The Pack tried to rally in the top of the seventh as pinch hitter Brittany Nimmo hit a double up the first base line.
-Freshman Peyton Silverman earned the start in the circle, and Harli Hubbard came in to relieve in the sixth inning.
-Five players on the Pack's roster tallied one hit apiece in the contest.

NC State will play its second of a three-game series Saturday at Anderson Softball Stadium. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra.
