
Softball Travels To UNC-Chapel Hill For Weekend Series

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team will travel to No. 28/25 UNC-Chapel Hill this weekend for a three-game series at Anderson Softball Stadium. First pitch Friday has been moved up one hour to 5 p.m., while Saturday and Sunday's games are slated for a 1 p.m. start.
The Wolfpack enters the weekend with an 11-18 (5-1 ACC) record while the Tar Heels are 24-7 (5-1 ACC) this season. All three games will be broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra.
UNC-CH moved into the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, checking in at No. 25, and is receiving 23 votes in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches poll to sit at 28th.
PACK VS. TAR HEELS HISTORY
Friday will mark the 43rd meeting between the teams, and are tied at 21 in the all-time series. Last year the squads met on March 16th at Anderson Softball Stadium for a nonconference matchup, and the Pack earned a 7-2 win.
ROAD STRETCH
10 of the next 12 games on the Pack's schedule will be on the road. After this weekend NC State will host midweek games against Liberty March 29 and UNC-Greensboro April 5, and travel to No. 20/19 Tennessee and Georgia Tech for weekend series and Elon for a midweek tilt.
STRONG START IN ACC PLAY
-NC State is off to a strong start in ACC play, as its 5-1 ledger is tied for third in the conference standings with UNC-CH. It's also the team's best start in conference play since 2014 when the Pack swept Pittsburgh and Virginia in back-to-back weekends.
-Tyler Ross sits among the top five in five offensive categories in ACC play – batting average (.556), slugging percentage (1.056), on-base percentage (.652), runs scored (10) and runs batted in (10). She additionally leads the conference in stolen bases with six.
-In the circle Peyton Silverman holds a 1.81 earned-run average through six games, which ranks fourth in the conference standings. She is additionally No. 2 in the ACC in wins with a perfect 4-0 record.
