Riley Frizell Set to Join Leftwich’s Staff

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State softball head coach Lindsay Leftwich announced the addition of Riley Frizell to her staff, a former All-Region infielder, today.
Frizell will serve as an assistant coach, which focus on infield work, assisting the offense, camps and community relations.
"We're thrilled to welcome Riley Frizell to the Wolfpack family. Riley immediately elevates the people around her with infectious energy and an incredible passion for developing student-athletes, "said Leftwich.
"As a player, Riley excelled at the highest levels of our sport, helping Missouri reach three consecutive NCAA Tournaments, including a Super Regional, before finishing her career at Louisville as an NFCA All-Region and All-ACC performer. She then continued her growth as a coach at Auburn, gaining valuable experience within another elite program. Having competed and coached in two of the nation's premier softball conferences, she brings a wealth of experience, perspective and championship standards to our program. More importantly, Riley is an exceptional relationship builder who loves investing in people. Her enthusiasm is contagious, her work ethic is relentless, and her commitment to helping young women reach their full potential aligns perfectly with who we are at NC State."
Frizell said, "I'm beyond excited and incredibly grateful to be joining the NC State softball coaching staff! It's an honor to become part of such a respected program. I can't wait to get to work with an amazing staff and group of student-athletes, continue growing in this game I love and represent the Wolfpack with pride. I am so excited for this next chapter. She spent the last two seasons as a graduate manager at Auburn. She helped facilitate hitting, infield work and catcher
Auburn co-head coach Kate Malveaux said, "Riley Frizell is a fantastic hire for NC State. She is a worker through and through and has put so much time into learning her craft. She brings passion to the game and is incredibly relatable and personable. We couldn't be more excited for her - NC State got a good one!"
No stranger to the ACC, Frizell played her senior season at Louisville where she led the Cards with a .337 batting average, 56 hits and 49 RBIs. She also smashed a team-best 13 homers and maintained a .651 slugging percentage. In addition to earning All-Region her senior year, she also landed on the All-ACC Third Team.
Prior to her time at Louisville, she spent the first three years of her collegiate career at Missouri. Frizell helped the Tigers to three-straight NCAA regionals and a Super Regional appearance in 2021.
While playing in the SEC, she made 49 starts for the Tigers in 109 appearances with 10 homers and four doubles. She drove in 39 and scored 23 runs herself. Frizell was a two-time SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll selection.
During her prep career, Frizell was named a PGF All-American, two-time finalist for Gatorade Player of the Year, three-time conference player of the year and checked in at No. 37 on Extra Innings Softball's national rankings.
