Softball Travels to UNCG Wednesday for Televised Game

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team will appear in a televised game for the third time this season when the Wolfpack heads to UNCG Wednesday afternoon. First pitch of the contest is slated for 5 p.m. at UNCG Softball Stadium and will be broadcast live on American Sports Network (ASN).

NC State enters the matchup with a 20-26 record on the season, while UNCG is 27-18. The Spartans won the first meeting between the teams this year, outlasting the Wolfpack for an 11-10 victory in a neutral site game held in Jacksonville, Fla.

Wednesday's contest will be the 16^th all-time meeting between the programs, with NC State owning a 12-3 advantage in the series. The Wolfpack defeated the Spartans, 11-8, in its last trip to Greensboro.

Last Time Out
In its last outing, NC State dropped the series finale at Syracuse and lost the series as a result, after the teams split Saturday's doubleheader. UNCG also came up short in its most recent game, dropping a 7-5 decision against Furman to lose the series.

Rychcik Reaches Career Milestone
With NC State's win in game one of the doubleheader at Syracuse, fourth-year head coach Shawn Rychcik earned his 400^th career win. Now in his 12th season overall as a head coach, the Salamanca, N.Y., native owns a 400-245-2 career record.

Gimme Six
NC State has compiled a record of 15-5 when scoring at least six runs in a contest. In comparison, the Wolfpack has just five wins when plating five runs or fewer.

Lucky Number Two
The Wolfpack has hit two or more home runs on 15 occasions this season and has won 12 of those contests.

In addition, NC State has also scored 43 runs in the second inning – the most it has scored in any frame this season.

Crucial Third Inning
When leading at the end of the third inning, NC State owns a 14-5 mark.

What a Difference a Year Makes
Several NC State players have made a noticeable jump in their batting statistics from last season to this year. In 57 games in 2015, Meredith Burroughs had 34 hits and nine home runs in 157 at-bats. This year, she has surpassed her hit total from 2015 with 39 hits and has matched her nine home runs from a year ago through 46 games.

Tyler Ross collected 58 hits, seven doubles, hit 14 home runs, scored 43 runs and had 55 RBI in 2015. This season, the junior has 50 hits, eight doubles, 14 home runs, 42 RBI and 44 runs scored through 46 games with 10 additional contests remaining on the Wolfpack's schedule.

- UNCG wouldn't go away in the first contest between the teams this season, as NC State jumped out to a 4-0 lead but the Spartans responded with five runs to grab a 5-4 advantage.
- The Wolfpack countered once again with five runs to take a 9-5 lead, but UNCG answered with four runs to knot the score and went on to win the game in extra innings.
- UNCG enters Wednesday's game with a team batting average of .305 and is scoring 5.42 runs per game.
- Lindsay Thomas leads the team at the plate with a team-best 50 hits and 10 home runs to go along with a .403 clip.
