RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State dropped the opening game of its weekend series against No. 24 Louisville, falling 5-1 Friday evening at Dail Softball Stadium.

The Cardinals scored four runs over the first two innings and never looked back, while Morgen Talley provided the Pack's lone run with a solo home run in the second.

How It Happened

Louisville struck first in the opening inning, capitalizing on a pair of hits and an NC State error to plate two runs and take an early lead.
The Cardinals added two more in the second, using three walks and a pair of RBI opportunities to extend their advantage to 4-0.
Talley answered in the home half of the second, launching a solo homer to deep right field to put the Pack on the board.
Louisville got that run back in the fourth when Bri Despines connected on a solo shot to right, pushing the lead to 5-1.
NC State put runners aboard in the fifth and sixth innings, but Louisville starter Alyssa Zabala retired the final seven Wolfpack hitters to seal the win.
