Pack Stuns #24 Louisville; Clinches Spot in ACC Tournament

RALEIGH, N.C. – Hours after officially clinching a spot in the ACC Tournament, NC State delivered one of its biggest wins of the season, knocking off No. 24 Louisville, 10-6, on Saturday evening at Dail Softball Stadium. The victory evened the weekend series and marked the Wolfpack's seventh ACC win of the season.
The ranked victory was NC State's first of the year and the fifth over a ranked opponent under head coach Lindsay Leftwich.
How It Happened
NC State returns to Dail Softball Stadium on Sunday for the rubber match against the Cardinals. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., with Senior Day festivities scheduled to begin at approximately 12:40 p.m. The game will be streamed on ACCNX.

How It Happened
- NC State wasted no time, erupting for four runs in the opening inning. Kendall Simmers delivered a two-run single before Morgen Talley launched a two-run homer to left center to put the Pack in command early.
- The Wolfpack kept the pressure on in the second. Carly Short ripped a two-run single, and Simmers followed with another RBI knock to extend the lead to 7-0.
- Louisville answered with four runs in the fourth and added two more in the sixth, trimming NC State's advantage to just one at 7-6.
- With the Cardinals threatening, the Wolfpack delivered the knockout punch in the bottom of the sixth. After Short singled and Lily Livingston drew a walk, Simmers blasted a three-run homer to left field to restore a four-run cushion.
- Rylee Wyman shut the door in the seventh, retiring two of the final three batters to seal the ranked victory.
- The win marked NC State's 27th of the season.
- The Wolfpack totaled 12 hits, including three extra-base hits.
- Eight of the 11 NC State hitters that entered the game recorded at least one hit.
- Simmers turned in a career night, going 3-for-4 with a career-high six RBIs, highlighted by a game-sealing three-run homer.
- Short finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
- Talley went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, and two RBIs.
