Wolfpack Wins Two More to Push Win Streak to Nine

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State Wolfpack earned a doubleheader sweep at Dail Softball Stadium Saturday, defeating Loyola-Chicago (8-2) and Toledo (9-3).

The nine-game win streak marks the second longest under head coach Lindsay Leftwich, who led the Pack to 13 straight wins in 2024.

NC State 8, Loyola Chicago 2

Loyola struck first with a two-run homer in the second inning.
NC State answered with eight unanswered runs, starting in the third.
The Pack tied the game in the third:
- Hannah Church singled to start the rally.
- Maia Townsend delivered an RBI single.
- Carly Short added an RBI double to even the score at 2-2.
NC State took full control in the fourth:
- Taryn Massey doubled.
- Church launched a two-run home run to left.
The fifth inning provided separation:
- Townsend doubled and later scored.
- Lily Livingston hit a two-run home run to extend the lead to 7-2.
Sarah Johnson capped the scoring with an RBI single in the sixth.
Morgen Talley earned the win, tossing 5.2 innings and allowing just two runs (none earned) while striking out six.

Game Two – NC State 9, Toledo 3

Rylee Wyman hit her 200^th career strikeout with her second strikeout of the outing after getting her second in the opening frame.
NC State struck first in the opening inning on a Kendall Simmers sacrifice fly.
The Pack broke the game open in the second:
- Carly Short hit a three-run home run, the first of her collegiate career.
- Livingston followed with a two-run homer to give NC State a 6-0 advantage.
Toledo trimmed the deficit with solo home runs in the third and fourth.
NC State added three insurance runs in the sixth:
- Maia Townsend delivered a two-run triple, the first of her career.
- Livingston drove in another run with a sacrifice fly.
Wyman picked up the win in the circle, while Kayla Fekel, Wynne Gore and Charli Orsini combined in relief to close it out.

By The Numbers

The Pack outscored opponents 17-5 on the day.
16 total RBIs were recorded.
The pitching staff combined for eight strikeouts and allowed only five hits between two games.
