Pack Heads West to Open ACC Play at #7 Cal, #21 Stanford

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's tennis opens ACC play with a trip west to face No. 7 California and No. 21 Stanford. The Wolfpack will take on the Golden Bears on Friday, Feb. 27 at 4:30 p.m. ET at Hellman Tennis Complex in Berkeley, Calif. NC State will then face the Cardinal on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. ET at Taube Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif.

NC State at #7 California
NC State swept No. 17 Michigan, 7-0, on Sunday, Feb. 15 at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. After securing the doubles point, the Wolfpack claimed four three-set matches and added two straight-set victories in singles to earn its fifth sweep of the season.

Scouting the Golden Bears
California checks in at No. 7 in the latest ITA team rankings (released Feb. 24, 2026) and enters Friday's match at 4-0 overall, including a 2-0 start in ACC play. The Golden Bears opened conference competition on Feb. 20 with a 4-1 win over Clemson and followed with a victory over Georgia Tech.
Senior All-American Berta Passola Folch was named ACC Player of the Week after leading Cal to wins over Clemson and Georgia Tech. She is ranked No. 13 in singles and is one of four Golden Bears ranked inside the top 125 nationally.

Stanford is ranked No. 21 in the latest ITA poll and enters the weekend at 5-4 overall and 1-1 in ACC play. The Cardinal will host Wake Forest on Friday before facing the Pack on Saturday.
Stanford collected a pair of weekly ACC honors on Feb. 24. Monika Ekstrand was named ACC Co-Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, while Ekstrand and Caroline Driscoll earned ACC Co-Doubles Team of the Week recognition. Ekstrand went undefeated in singles and doubles across two ACC matches, earning three ranked wins in four total contests. In doubles, Ekstrand and Driscoll defeated two ranked opponents extending their current winning streak to four matches.

NC State is 3-0 all-time against California. The teams first met in 2022, with the Pack earning a 4-0 victory. All three wins in the series have been 4-0 sweeps. Friday's contest marks NC State's first trip to Berkeley, as two previous meetings were in Raleigh and one was played at a neutral site in Coral Gables, Fla.
The Wolfpack leads the all-time series against Stanford, 2-1, most recently defeating the Cardinal at home in 2025. The teams first met in 2023 and have played each season since. NC State's last trip to Stanford came in the 2024 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, where the Pack fell to the Cardinal to end its season.
