Slama Punches Ticket to NCAA Singles Championship as Pack Concludes ITA All-American Championships

CARY, N.C. - NC State women's tennis wrapped up competition at the ITA All-American Championships on Sunday at Cary Tennis Park, highlighted by No. 10 and fifth-seeded Mia Slama punching her ticket to the NCAA Singles Championship later this fall in Athens, Georgia. The junior was also awarded with the tournament's Sportsmanship Award.

Slama advanced to the round of 16 in the main draw before making a run through the consolation bracket to secure an NCAA Singles Championship berth. She is the first Wolfpack player to qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship this season and will make her second consecutive appearance at the national championship.

Slama was one of three Wolfpack singles players to earn a spot in the main draw, joining No. 33 Lavinia Tanasie and Victoria Osuigwe. Slama advanced through the first two rounds with wins over No. 49 Kristina Paskauskas of Texas A&M and No. 34 Ashton Bowers of Auburn before falling to No. 39 Nao Nishino of Ohio State in the round of 16. Tanasie advanced to the round of 32, while Osuigwe fell in the opening round.

Following her main-draw run, Slama earned three consecutive consolation-bracket victories to secure her spot in the NCAA Singles Championship. She defeated No. 38 Anastasiia Gureva of Georgia, No. 23 Kaitlyn Carnicella of South Carolina and No. 55 Stephanie Yakoff of Harvard to become a consolation bracket finalist.

In doubles, NC State had three duos competing in the main draw: No. 2 Victoria Osuigwe and Roisin Gilheany, No. 16 Tanasie and Slama, and Jasmine Conway and Amelie Smejkalova, who advanced through the qualifying draw. Osuigwe and Gilheany and Conway and Smejkalova each advanced to the round of 16 before falling.
