Pack Falls to #18 FSU in Game One of Series

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The NC State softball team fell to No. 18 Florida State, 8-6, after a walkoff home run in the bottom of the seventh ended things.
There were three lead changes throughout the evening.

How it Happened
- FSU plated one in the bottom of the second after an RBI double to centerfield. The Pack gave up two hits in the frame, but held the Seminoles to just one run scored.
- Bats were on fire for the Wolfpack in the top of the third after the Seminoles put two outs on the board. Michele Tarpey led off the frame with a single down the right line and Kaylee Lambrecht walked to have two on base. FSU got the next two batters out, but that was all it took for NC State to find a spark. Taylor Ensley doubled to right field to bring Tarpey and Lambrecht home. With the 2-1 lead, Amanda Hasler recorded a single of her own to bring Ensley home. Madison Inscoe was the final batter for the Wolfpack to record a hit in the third – she doubled to left center and brought Hasler home to increase the lead to three. The Pack ended the frame with four runs on four hits and the 4-1 lead.
- Florida State added one run in the bottom of the third after an RBI single from Kalei Harding.
- The Seminoles took the lead in the bottom of the fourth after scoring four runs on four hits. The Pack brought in a pitching change after Inscoe faced seven batters – AIsha Weixlmann entered in relief. FSU held a 6-4 advantage heading into the fifth.
- Junior Hannah Goodwin came in clutch in the top of the sixth as she drilled a rocket past the centerfield wall to bring Inscoe home with her. The homer was her fourth of the season and marked the 98th hit of her career. The Pack finished the top half of the sixth tied, 6-6, with the Seminoles
- The Pack held the Seminoles scoreless in the bottom half of the sixth and ended the frame with a 4-6-3 double play.
- NC State was unable to score to take the lead in the top of the seventh. With one out in the bottom half of the frame, Isa Torres hit a two run, walk off home run to end the game with the Seminoles on top, 8-6.
- The Pack had four pitchers enter the circle. Inscoe and Weixlmann each tallied two strikeouts.
- Goins, Inscoe, and Taylor Ensley all recorded two hits throughout the evening to lead the Pack offensively. Goodwin and Taylor Ensley each had two RBI's.
