NC State Set for 2020 NCAA Cross Country Championships

RALEIGH - Both the men's and women's NC State cross country squads are set to travel to Stillwater, Okla., for the 2020 NCAA Cross Country Championships. The No. 5 women's squad will compete first with the 6K race starting at 12:50 p.m. EST. The 13th-ranked men's team's 10K competition is set to begin at 1:40 p.m. EST.
Both races will be broadcast live on ESPNU with coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m. EST.

NC State's last cross country meet took place Oct. 30 at the ACC Cross Country Championships, each claiming a top-2 finish. The women's team earned its fifth consecutive ACC title, led by redshirt senior Dominique Clairmonte's first-place finish. She ran a 19:55.1, and senior Hannah Steelman claimed third place with her time of 20:17.3. NC State's scorers tallied 47 points and all finished in the top 20.
The men's squad took second place, and senior Ian Shanklin earned a second-place finish, running a time of 23:08.5. Each of the five men's scorers finished in the top 20, compiling a team score of 54 points. Redshirt senior Joe Bistritz tabbed a top-10 finish, placing sixth with a 23:27.3 mark.
Five members of each team earned All-ACC honors, totaling 10 between the two squads.
2020 NCAA CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS REWIND
The Wolfpack women posted a fifth-place finish at the meet, marking its third top-five finish in five years. The team tabbed 190 points. Elly Henes and Kelsey Chmiel each earned All-America status as Henes posted a 10th-place finish while Chmiel finished in 22nd.
NC State's men tabbed 26th place, and Ian Shanklin earned the first All-American laurels for a member of the Wolfpack men's team since 2013. He finished the race in 39th place.
PACK IN THE POLLS
Both of NC State's cross country squads are ranked in the top-13 teams in the nation. In the most recent USTFCCCA national rankings, released Mar. 5, 2021, the women's team sits at No. 5 and the men check in at No. 13. Both teams are additionally ranked first in the South East Region.
