RALEIGH – The 3rd-ranked NC State women's tennis team got its 16th win of the season on Friday, defeating Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponent No. 12 Wake Forest in a 5-2 decision.
In doubles, No. 2 Anna Rogers and Alana Smith got the first win of the day with their 6-2 win over No. 11 Eliza Omirou and MC Meredith. It was Liz Norman and Lana Mavor who clinched the point for the Wolfpack on court three with a 6-4 victory over Saby Nihalani and Anna Brylin.
No. 37 Adriana Reami kicked things off for the Wolfpack in singles play, defeating Nihalani, 6-0, 6-1. Wake Forest got on the board when Anna Campana defeated Lexi Keberle 6-2, 6-2. Mavor put NC State one match away from the win with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Alexis Franco.
It was No. 32 Rogers who clinched the win, marking the Wolfpack's sixth win over a ranked opponent this season. Rogers defeated No. 79 Omirou 6-3, 7-5. After Rogers clinched the match, freshman Jaeda Daniel got the 6-4, 6-3 win over Chandler Carter.
