
Wolfpack In Ninth After Two Rounds At Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The seventh-ranked NC State women's golf team bounced back in its second round on Monday with a combined score of 289 (+5) to sit in a tie for ninth place at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, hosted by Tennessee at Cherokee Country Club.
The Wolfpack managed to shave eight strokes off of its first round of 297 and move up two spots on the leaderboard, posting a 586 (+18) for 36 holes.
Illinois and Kent State share the top of the team standings at 560 (-8), while Maryland sits 13 strokes back in third place with a 573 (+5).
Laura Kowohl led the way for the Pack, sitting in a tie for 15th after turning in rounds of 69 (-2) and 73 for a combined 142 (E), while Naomi Ko posted a 145 (+3) with rounds of 72 (+1) and 73 to sit in a tie for 25th. Crystal Huang sits among the top 50 of the individual standings at T44th with a seven-over 149 after scores of 76 (+5) and 73.
Cecily Overbey and India Clyburn bounced back in the final 18 of the day after tough first rounds. Overbey fired a one-under 70 in the second round, shaving 10 strokes off of round one (80) for a 150 to share a tie for 52nd, while Clyburn improved by nine strokes with a 73 in the second round after an 82 in round one. She is tied for 71st with a 155 (+13).
Monika Hartl played as an individual in her first collegiate tournament and shot rounds of 76 and 77 for a combined 153 (+11) to sit in a tie for 67th.
NC State returns to action Tuesday morning in a 9 a.m. shotgun start, and will be paired with players from Tennessee and Wake Forest on holes seven through 10.
