Madsen Named Unanimous All-American for Second Straight Season

RALEIGH – Marie Eline Madsen of the NC State women's golf team has been tabbed to the Golfweek All-America Third Team, as announced Wednesday. After receiving WGCA All-America Second Team honors late last week, Madsen is a unanimous All-America choice for the second straight season.
Last season, Madsen was also a WGCA All-America Second Team choice and Golfweek All-America Third Team selection.
Madsen finished her sophomore season by breaking the single-season scoring record for the second straight year with a 70.88 average with 24 rounds at par or better and 11 rounds in the 60s. The Viborg, Denmark native logged three wins, seven top 10 finishes and 10 top 20 showings in 11 tournaments. Her three wins tacked on to her career win total of five, which also broke a school record as only a sophomore.
She finished the season ranked No. 26 in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd Ranking and is currently No. 22 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. Madsen was also named to the All-ACC Team for the second straight year, becoming the fourth Wolfpack golfer to earn all-conference honors in back-to-back seasons.
Across her two-year career at NC State, Madsen has logged a 71.06 scoring average with 15 top 10 finishes and 21 top 20 showings across 23 career tournaments.
Madsen will play for Team International at the Arnold Palmer Cup in Ireland this summer.
