
Pack Softball To Host Liberty Wednesday In Midweek Tilt

RALEIGH – The NC State softball team will host Liberty Wednesday in a midweek tilt, with the first pitch slated for 5 p.m. at Dail Stadium.
The Wolfpack enters the matchup with a 12-20 (6-3 ACC) record and the Flames are 18-13 (5-1 Big South) this season. Liberty will play a doubleheader Tuesday at No. 19/19 Tennessee before traveling to Raleigh.
PACK VS. FLAMES HISTORY
Wednesday will mark just the third time the teams have met in program history. The Pack defeated the Flames, 2-1, in neutral site games in 2005 and 2008 to hold a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State dropped its first two games in a weekend series at No. 28/25 UNC-Chapel Hill, but a seventh-inning rally helped the team earn an 8-7 win on Sunday to hold off a sweep.
HOME RUN TRACKER
-As a team NC State has belted 24 home runs this season, which ranks sixth in the ACC. Four of them were hit last weekend at UNC-CH.
-Brittany Nimmo tallied her first two of the season on Sunday for the first multi-homer game of her career. She hit a solo home run in the second inning to put the Pack on the board, and a two-run bomb for a seventh-inning rally to give her team an 8-7 victory over the Heels. This marked the first multi-homer game since March 30, 2016, when Tyler Ross hit two out of the park against USC Upstate.
ROAD STRETCH
After Wednesday's contest, seven of the next eight games on the Pack's schedule are on the road. NC State will play weekend series at No. 19/19 Tennessee and Georgia Tech, as well as a midweek game at Elon. UNC-Greensboro will additionally travel to Raleigh for a midweek matchup at Dail Stadium April 5.

-All nine underclassmen on the Pack's roster have made appearances in at least 15 games, while Jade Caraway and Cheyenne Balzer have started all 32 games at their respective positions.
-Caraway leads the team with a .385 batting average along with 37 hits and a .450 on-base percentage.
-Peyton Silverman leads the pitching staff with eight wins and 113 innings pitched, the second-most in the ACC. Of her 23 appearances she has struck out 73 batters and thrown 13 complete games.
-In the infield Balzer has tallied 222 putouts, which is second in the conference, and assisted in eight of the team's 11 double plays this year.
ABOUT LIBERTY
-The Flames clinched its series over conference foe Radford in its last time out, winning the first two games 5-2 and 6-5, but falling 11-2 in game three.
-Liberty holds a team batting average of .330 and are averaging 5.67 runs per game. Tori Zavodny leads the team at the plate with a .415 batting average, while Amber Bishop holds a .406 clip along with a team-best 41 hits and five home runs.
-In the circle Julia DiMartino paces the Flames with a 2.62 earned-run average and 6-4 record. Liberty holds a team ERA of 3.74 and are averaging 5.22 strikeouts a game.
