CARY, N.C. - No. 13 and third-seeded NC State women's tennis will begin its run at the 2026 ACC Women's Tennis Championship on Friday, April 17 in the quarterfinal round, facing sixth-seeded California at Cary Tennis Park. First serve is set for 6 p.m. NC State earned the No. 3 seed for the second consecutive season.
The Golden Bears advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating 14th-seeded Florida State in the third round, 4-2. Florida State had previously topped No. 11 seed Georgia Tech in the second round to set up the matchup with Cal. NC State and California met earlier this season, with the Pack earning a 4-1 win in Berkeley.
NC State finished tied for third in the ACC standings with Duke, posting a 10-2 conference record. The Wolfpack closed the regular season at 19-7 overall and is currently ranked No. 14 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll. Duke, ranked No. 22, earned the No. 4 seed, with ITA rankings serving as the tiebreaker between the two programs.

Last Time Out
NC State closed the regular season with a 1-1 weekend in Virginia, defeating Virginia Tech, 4-0, before falling to No. 8 Virginia, 4-2. The split brought the Wolfpack to 19-7 overall and 10-2 in ACC play.
The Path to a Title
As the No. 3 seed, NC State earned a double bye into the quarterfinals, as the top four seeds automatically advance to that round. The Wolfpack will need three wins to capture its second ACC Championship in program history.
With a quarterfinal win, NC State would advance to Saturday's semifinal round (2 p.m.). The ACC Championship match is set for Sunday, April 19 at 2 p.m.
ACC Championship History
The Wolfpack owns one ACC Championship title, which came in 2023 with a 4-1 victory over in-state rival North Carolina in the final. The championship run was highlighted by Diana Shnaider's performance, earning ACC Tournament MVP honors.
Last season, NC State entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed and advanced to the semifinals with a win over sixth-seeded Notre Dame before falling to No. 2 seed North Carolina, 4-1. If both teams advance this year, NC State and UNC would meet again in the semifinal round.
