BLACKSBURG, Va. - NC State was limited to just two hits as No. 14 Virginia Tech used a pair of big innings to secure a 10-0 run-rule victory in five innings Friday evening at Tech Softball Park.

- Virginia Tech struck first in the bottom of the first with an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Hokies broke the game open in the second inning, plating three runs on a bases-loaded double to extend the lead to 4-0.
- A five-run third inning created full separation, highlighted by multiple extra-base hits and a two-RBI triple to push the score to 9-0.
- Virginia Tech added a solo home run in the fourth inning to make it 10-0.
- NC State threatened in the fifth, putting two runners in scoring position, but was unable to capitalize.
- The Hokies' pitching staff closed out the game with a scoreless fifth to secure the run-rule win.
