#14 Wolfpack Set for Top-Five Test at #2 Pepperdine

MALIBU, Calif. - Â Â No. 14 NC State women's tennis is set for a nonconference matchup at No. 2 Pepperdine on Thursday, March 19 at 5 p.m. ET at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu. The match marks the Wolfpack's fifth contest of the season against a team ranked in the top five of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) team rankings.

#14 NC State at #2 Pepperdine
NC State earned a 4-1 road win over No. 32 SMU on Sunday afternoon in Dallas. The victory marked the Wolfpack's sixth ranked win of the season and improved the team to 12-5 overall with a 5-1 mark in ACC play.
NC State opened the dual by winning the doubles point for the eighth match in a row, as No. 2 Gabriella Broadfoot and Victoria Osuigwe claimed a 6-3 win on court one before No. 57 Jasmine Conway and Anna Zyryanova secured the point with a 6-3 victory on court two.
In singles play, No. 41 Mia Slama doubled the Pack's lead with a 7-5, 6-2 ranked win over No. 49 Amelie Van Impe on court one. The Mustangs got on the board with a win on court six, where Amelie Smejkalova made her NC State debut.
The Wolfpack closed out the match with two more singles victories, as No. 66 Zyryanova earned a ranked win over No. 59 Sophie Llewellyn, 6-2, 6-3, before Conway clinched the dual by defeating Natalie Stasny in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-0.
Scouting the Waves
Pepperdine enters Thursday's matchup with an 11-3 overall record, including a perfect 3-0 mark in West Coast Conference play. The Waves own seven wins over teams ranked in the ITA top 25 at the time of competition, including a pair of victories over Texas A&M and Ohio State, who were both ranked No. 2 nationally at the time of the matchup.
Pepperdine has also been dominant in WCC weekly honors, sweeping the conference's weekly awards four times this season, including the most recent set announced on March 17. Živa Falkner was named WCC Singles Player of the Week, Sonja Zhiyenbayeva earned WCC Freshman of the Week honors, and the tandem of Shihomi Leong and Duru Söke was selected as WCC Doubles Team of the Week.

Thursday will mark the fifth all-time meeting between NC State and Pepperdine, with the Waves holding a 3-1 advantage in the series. The Wolfpack did claim the most recent meeting, however, earning a 5-2 home win in 2025. Thursday's match will also mark NC State's first trip to Malibu since 2017.
