Seventh Inning Dooms Pack Against Charlotte

The 49ers handed the Pack its first loss at home this season and snapped a 15-game winning streak.
How It Happened
- NC State struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Kendall Simmers launched a two-run home run to center field, scoring Maia Townsend and giving the Wolfpack a 2-0 lead.
- The Pack added to its advantage in the second. Townsend delivered an RBI single to score Carmen Montes de Oca before Simmers struck again with a two-run double to center, extending the lead to 5-0.
- Morgen Talley was dominant in the circle through six innings, allowing just four hits while keeping Charlotte off the scoreboard.
- Charlotte finally broke through in the seventh. Savanna Nguyen doubled to left to bring home the 49ers' first run, and a groundout from Olivia Williams trimmed the deficit to 5-2.
- Teagan Ritchie followed with an RBI single before Brelyn O'Hearn loaded the bases with another hit.
- Audrey Wilson tied the game with a two-run single to left, evening the score at 5-5.
- Moments later, London Dirks delivered the decisive blow, blasting a three-run home run to center field to cap the eight-run inning and give Charlotte an 8-5 lead.
- NC State was unable to mount a comeback in the bottom of the seventh.
- Senior Maia Townsend led the Pack offensively, going 3-for-4 at the plate.
- Sophomore Kendall Simmers drove in a game-high four runs with a home run and a double.
- Freshman Morgen Talley struck out five batters over 6.0 innings of work.
The Pack shifts its focus to conference play as it is scheduled to host Pitt. NC State will take on the Panthers on Friday at 7pm for game one of the series and it will be streamed on ACCNX.
