Wolfpack Falls in Series Opener at Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – The NC State softball team dropped its series opener at Auburn, 8-0, Friday evening at Jane B. Moore Field.
The Tigers wasted no time as a homer by KK McCrary gave Auburn the 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Two RBI singles in the third and a homer in the fourth allowed Auburn to push its lead to five after four innings.
The Pack struggled offensively as it recorded two hits on the evening. Junior Teagan Thrunk singled up the middle in the top of the third and fellow junior Hannah Church singled to the pitcher in the top of the sixth, but both were stranded on base at the conclusion of the respective innings.
The Tigers walked it off in the bottom of the bottom of the sixth after a single to center allowed one to score and gave them the 8-0 win. The Pack moves to 25-28 on the season.
NC State will return to Jane B. Moore Field on Saturday, May 3 at 3pm for game two of the series.
