Pack Falls in Season Finale at Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – The NC State softball team dropped its season finale, 8-0, at Auburn in six innings Sunday afternoon at Jane B. Moore Field.
Freshman Taryn Massey and sophomore Tori Ensley worked one out walks in the top of the second to put two on base with one out. The duo was left stranded in the end as Auburn picked up the final two outs before both were in scoring position.
The Tigers led off the bottom of the second with a solo home run to take the lead, 1-0. A single by Rose Roach with one two outs allowed the Tigers to push the lead to 2-0.
Freshman Kendall Simmers tallied the Pack's lone hit of the outing when she doubled to left center to lead off the fourth inning.
Auburn added a third and fourth run to the board after a double in the third and fielder's choice in the fourth brought runners home.
Auburn loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth after a single and back-to-back walks put runners on. A single by Abbey Smith brought two home to push the Tigers lead to six. With no outs and two on, Nelia Peralta doubled to center to bring home two and give Auburn the 8-0 win in six innings.
The Pack wraps up the season 25-28 overall and 6-18 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
