
#8 Pack Men’s Tennis Opens NCAA Action Saturday at Home

RALEIGH – Eighth-ranked NC State men's tennis (20-6) claimed the No. 9 seed of the 2025 NCAA Tournament and is set to kick off their national postseason campaign with a host match against South Carolina State (15-3) on Saturday, May 3 at 2 p.m. in Raleigh.

All three matches (two first-round and one second-round) held at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on campus are free to attend. Nearby parking is available for free in the West Deck down the street off of Varsity Drive.

NC State has remained in the top 10 for 11 straight ITA team polls, beginning on February 20. The team enters the tournament as eighth in the country according to ITA, while holding the No. 9 seed in the bracket.
Braden Shick and Fons Van Sambeek have climbed to a career-high doubles ranking of No. 6 while Jules Leroux and Luca Staeheli follow behind with a current ranking of No. 20. Shick also leads the team in singles rankings at No. 27, Martin Borisiouk holds the No. 30 position, and rounding out the squad is Staeheli at No. 91.
Last Time Out
The Pack dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 match to Duke, who was ranked No. 19 at the time, in the ACC Quarterfinals. Despite losing the doubles point, the Pack was able to claim three singles points and take the final determining match to the third set.
Scouting the Bulldogs
South Carolina State currently holds a 15-3 record for the 2025 dual season, finishing 5-0 in the MEAC regular season and winning the conference championship as well. The Pack and the Bulldogs shared three opponents this season with matches against Campbell, NC Central, and Wake Forest. Each shared the same results with the respective opponents, losses to Wake Forest and wins over Campbell and NC Central.
This match-up marks the first-ever meeting between NC State and South Carolina State in men's tennis.
