Pack Drops Series Finale to Georgia Tech

ATLANTA – The NC State softball team dropped the series finale to Georgia Tech, 11-3, Sunday afternoon at Mewborn Field in Atlanta.
The Wolfpack moves to 15-10 on the season and 0-3 in conference play.

How it Happened
- Both Taylor Ensley and Kendall Simmers earned a two out walk to put two on for junior Hannah Church. The Yellow Jackets managed to strike her out before the Pack had a chance to cross the plate.
- Georgia Tech scores one in the bottom of the first after a double to center field. NC State brought in right hander Wynne Gore in hopes of slowing the Yellow Jackets.
- In the bottom of the second, senior Taylor Ensley recorded a crazy assist from right field to first to get the first out of the frame.
- Despite two outs being on the board in the top of the third, both Taylor Ensley and Kendall Simmers were walked. With a 2-2 count, junior Hannah Church hit a no-doubter to center field to get the Pack on the board and give them the 3-1 lead.
- A single in the bottom of the third allowed Georgia Tech to minimize the deficit to one and the Pack brought in its second pitching change of the game. Carly Maxton entered the circle and struck out the first batter faced.
- Tech tied things three all with a single down the left line and would later take the lead after a bases loaded walk. Georgia Tech posted six runs by the end of the frame to take a 7-3 lead in the bottom of the third.
- The Yellow Jackets posted four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to push the lead to eight (11-3).
- The Pack attempted to get something going in the top of the seventh after Hannah Church got on base with a two out walk, but the rally attempt was cut short.
- Wynne Gore and Maxton each recorded two strikeouts during the outing.
