Pack Falls in Series Opener at Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The NC State softball team dropped its series opener at No. 7/8 Florida State, 6-1, Friday evening at Joanne Graf Field.
The Wolfpack moves to 21-13 on the season and 4-6 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

The Pack will return to Joanne Graf Field on the campus of Florida State on Saturday, March 29. First pitch is scheduled for 1pm on ACCNX.

How it Happened
- The Seminoles posted three on the board off four hits in the bottom of the first. The Pack ended their scoring run with a 4-3 double play.
- Senior Taylor Ensley recorded the first hit for the Pack in the second with a single to left field and freshman Kendall Simmers followed suit with a single to right. Florida State picked up three quick outs to leave two stranded in the top of the second.
- A two run homer by Isa Torres allowed the Noles to post two more runs in the bottom of the second.
- Maxton's time in the circle concluded after two innings of work and she finished with one strikeout.
- Redshirt-sophomore Wynne Gore entered the circle in the third and helped keep the Seminoles off the board. She threw 2.1 innings and picked up two strikeouts before junior Rylee Wyman entered the circle.
- Graduate infielder Michele Tarpey led off the sixth inning with a solo rocket to left field to mark her fourth homer of the season and get the Pack on the board.
- A double by Jaysoni Beachum in the bottom of the sixth allowed the Noles to push the lead back to five.
- Senior Alaina Smith entered to pinch hit in the top of the seventh and hit a single up the middle with one out on the board. The hit marked her first of the season.
- The Wolfpack was unable to get runners into scoring position before the Noles picked up the final out of the game.
