
Women’s Golf Set to Host City of Oaks Collegiate

RALEIGH - The NC State women's golf team will host the City of Oaks Collegiate, set for Friday, March 21 to Saturday, March 22 at Lonnie Poole Golf Course. This marks the Pack's first home tournament of the season.
This is a 72-par, 6,181-yard course and all teams will have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Friday for two rounds. The final round will take place on Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. double tee off holes 1 and 10.
This tournament field features 17 teams, including eight from the state of North Carolina. The Pack is one of six top 100 teams in the field.
Marie Eline Madsen is in the No. 1 spot, leading the team with a 70.80 scoring average. She paces the team with 13 rounds at par or under and eight rounds in the 60s. Madsen has placed in the top 20 in all seven tournaments, including a runner-up finish at the Daniel Island Invitational with a 11-over 205 (67-66-72). She is coming off an even 144 (67-75) at the Briar's Creek Invitational to tie for 13th.
Lauren Olivares Leon is in the No. 2 spot, logging a 72.25 scoring average with 11 rounds at par or under and two rounds in the 60s. She has placed in the top 20 in five tournaments, highlighted by a tie for first at the Landfall Tradition (69-70-71-210). She is coming off an even-144 (73-71) to tie for 13th at the Briar's Creek Invitational.
Vania Simont will play in her eighth tournament this season, going into this weekend with a 75.10 scoring average. She has four rounds at par or under and had a career best 6-under 210 (69-70-71) to place fifth at the Daniel Island Invitational.
Jaclyn Kenzel is in the fourth spot of the lineup. She is playing in her fifth tournament in her graduate season. Her best showing this season was at the Daniel Island Invitational with a 2-over 218 (72-74-72) to tie for 15th.
Caitlin Whitehead will round out the lineup, making her sixth tournament appearance this season. Her best showing this season was at the Landfall Tradition with a 7-over 223 (72-73-78). She is coming off tie for 54th at the Briar's Creek Invitational with a 9-over 153 (76-77).
The Pack gets two individual spots this weekend. Lea Ludwig will take one of those spots, having played in four tournaments this season with a 76.25 scoring average. Leena Stephens will play in the other individual spot, with the sophomore making her first collegiate golf tournament appearance.

The Pack will play its final 54-hole tournament at the ECU Ironwood Invitational at Ironwood Golf Club in Greenville, North Carolina from March 31 to April 1. The tournament is hosted by ECU.
