The Basics of the Match Up
- The Pack will meet with the Irish for the 29th time in program history on Friday, March 14.
- Notre Dame holds a 17-11 advantage in the series and has won eight of the last 10 meetings, including the last five straight.
- The last time the two met in Raleigh, NC State won the series opener before dropping the final two games.
- The two programs have met every year since 2014, except in 2022 when the two did not meet due to the rotational conference opponent schedule.
- be the 17th win of the season
- be the 47th win in the Leftwich Era
- be the 7th ACC win in the Leftwich Era
- be the first win over Notre Dame in the Leftwich Era
- be the 614th win in program history
- be the 177th ACC win in program history
- be the 277th win at Dail Softball Stadium
- would be the first of the season for NC State
- would be the second series won under the leadership of Leftwich
- Sophomore right handed pitcher Carly Maxton topped her own career high in strikeouts that she set just seven days prior in the Pack's shutout win over Dartmouth on Feb. 14. She tallied 10 strikeouts in her second complete game and second shutout of the season. She caught six batters swinging and got four looking in the outing.
- Her 10 K's make her just the second person on the staff to record a game with double-digit strikeouts in their career (Rylee Wyman vs. UConn on 2/17/24).
- The Townsend, DE native was the only pitcher on the roster with a 0.00 ERA through the first two weeks of the season, a mark that tied for first in the NCAA and ranked first in the ACC.
- In the March 11 win over ECU, she pitched all seven innings and 21 outs BUT left the circle for two batters, therefore she could not earn the complete game. She struck out the Pirates Morgan Johnson all four times she stepped up to the plate - each time catching her swinging. In the 16 pitches Maxton threw Johnson throughout the game, only four of them were balls.
- Graduate catcher Payden Bordeau smashed two homers in the 5-4 loss at Georgia Tech on March 8.
- She became the first person on the 2025 roster to record two homers in a single game this season. But less than three days later, junior Hannah Church joined in on the fun and smashed two bombs in the 11-5 win over East Carolina on March 11.
- The duo is one of 18 ACC athletes to record two homers in a single game (stats through March 10).
