NC State Claims 4-1 Win Over Louisville to Open ACC Play

LOUISVILLE, KY – The No. 14 NC State women's tennis team kicked off their ACC season with a strong 4-1 victory over Louisville in Louisville, KY Friday evening.
The Wolfpack started strong in doubles, taking control on court one. The duo of No. 2 Gabriella Broadfoot and Maddy Zampardo defeated No. 82 Elisabeth Lila and Alice Otis 6-3, giving NC State the early lead. On court two, Mia Slama and Anna Zyraynova followed suit, securing a 6-2 win to clinch the doubles point for the Wolfpack.
With a 1-0 lead heading into singles play, junior Anna Zyraynova made her mark, quickly putting the Wolfpack on the board with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 win over Louisville's Elena Noguero. Freshman No. 73 Gabia Paskauskas also delivered, claiming the second singles point with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Berta Miret on court six.
While the remaining matches all went to three sets, Louisville managed to earn its first point on court one. The match was ultimately sealed by freshman Mia Slama, who separated herself from Germany Davis 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, securing the 4-1 victory for NC State.
Next up, the Wolfpack will head to South Bend, IN, to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Mar. 2 at 11:00 am in the second match of their ACC-opening weekend.
