GUADALAJARA, Mexico - The NC State women's golf team is set to play at the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club from Friday, Jan. 31 to Saturday, Feb. 1. The tournament is hosted by the University of Virginia.
The tournament is across two days with 36 holes played on Friday and 18 on Saturday. The Pack will tee off at 10 a.m. Eastern and will play with Washington and Houston.
The Guadalajara Country Club is a par-72, 6,210-yard course. The course was designed by John Bredemus in 1942, as the lush parkland layout makes the Guadalajara Country Club a part of an extensive private estate near the city centre. It was the home course of former Arizona All-American and LPGA standout Lorena Ochoa, whose family's home overlooked the club house.
NC State is one of 12 teams in the field that features three other ACC opponents and four top 25 teams.
Marie Eline Madsen will play at the No. 1 spot and paced the Pack in the fall with a 70.58 scoring average. She logged top 10 finishes in all four tournaments, highlighted by tying for third with an even-par 210 (68-73-69) at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational. She is ranked No. 46 in the Scoreboard by Clippd Rankings and No. 123 in the WAGR.
Lauren Olivares Leon will play at No. 2, and the senior is coming off a fall having the second highest scoring average at 72.92. She ended the fall slate on a high note by sharing the title at the Landfall Tradition for her third career win. Olivares Leon also received an invitation to play at the Augusta National Women's Amateur and sits at No. 50 in the WAGR.
Vania Simont played in all four fall tournaments and will make her fifth tournament appearance this season. She tallied a 75.08 scoring average in the fall with her best performance coming at the Cavalier Regional Preview where she tied for 22nd with an 8-over 221 (73-71-77).
Lea Ludwig will play at the No. 4 spot. She played in two tournaments and logged a 76.67 scoring average in the fall. She tied for 41st at the Cavalier Regional Preview with a 16-over 229 (76-76-77).
Ellise Rymer will wrap up the lineup. The sophomore played in three tournaments in the fall to log a 74.11 scoring average. Her best showing was at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, in which she finished with a 7-over 217 (76-71-70) to tie for 19th.
