How it Happened
- Hannah Goodwin was the first member of the Pack to reach base as she reached on an error in the top of the second by FSU. She was left stranded as the Seminoles picked up the final two outs of the frame.
- The two teams battled back-and-forth but the Noles scored first. In the bottom of the second, a sacrifice fly brought one home for Florida State.
- Florida State added three more runs to the board in the bottom of the third after back-to-back singles and an error allowed runners to score.
- Sophomore Amanda Hasler recorded her third hit of the series in the top of the fourth after she doubled to right-center field. Madison Inscoe would then be hit by a pitch, allowing her to take first. With Goodwin at the plate, Hasler and Inscoe would both advance to the next base on a wild pitch. Nadia Sykes then entered to pinch run for Inscoe at second. With a 2-2 count, the junior slapped a ball toward third base allowing Hasler to score, but chaos ensued. After Goodwin reached first, the Seminoles infield still had possession of the ball and started a run down trying to get Sykes out. After several attempts, Sykes slid back to second and was ruled safe, but Goodwin also slid to second. Goodwin was tagged out on the play by the Noles third baseman to bring up the second out of the frame. The Pack finished the inning with a run on the board, but still trailing the Noles by three.
- Florida State added two more runs in the bottom half of the fourth after Kalei Harding hit a two-run homer. The Seminoles would record another two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth to push the lead to seven.
- The Pack picked up two freebies in the top of the sixth after the Seminoles walked both Tori Ensley and Inscoe. The two were left stranded at the end of the frame.
- Freshman Carly Maxton entered to pitch in the bottom of the sixth and struck out the first batter she faced. She would later end the inning with another strikeout and keep the Noles off the scoreboard.
- Sophomore Ellie Goins led off the seventh inning with a solo bomb to left-center field to minimize the Seminoles lead to six. Freshman Raylee Leiman and Katie Raper would then be walked, putting runners on first and second for the Pack. With two outs on the board and two on, Taylor Ensley drilled a first-pitch home run to left-center field to increase the run total for the Pack to five.
- Aisha Weixlmann started in the circle for NC State and picked up three strikeouts in her 2.2 innings.
- Three members of the Pack recorded a hit in the outing — Goins, Taylor Ensley, and Amanda Hasler.
