Pack Heads to South Bend for Third ACC Series

RALEIGH -- The NC State softball team will head to South Bend, Ind. for the third conference series of the 2024 campaign. The Pack will face Notre Dame starting on Friday, March 22 at 4pm before wrapping up play on Sunday, March 24 at 12pm.

A Win ...

Would move the Pack to 19-9 on the season
Would move NC State to 2-5 in ACC play
Would be the first win in South Bend since 2019
Would mark the 613th win in program history and 179th win in ACC play

A Series Win ...

Would mark the first series win of the 2024 campaign
Would be the first series win since the Pack swept Boston College in 2023
Would be the first series win over Notre Dame since 2020 - NC State swept the Irish in Raleigh

Series History with Notre Dame (Irish Leads 14-11)

The series marks the 10th between the two teams since Notre Dame joined the ACC in 2014.
The Pack has scored as many as 14 runs and as few as zero.
In the 2023 series, NC State claimed game two of the series, but the Irish won the rubber match on March 11 to claim the series.

Sophomore right handed pitcher Madison Inscoe tallied a career high nine strikeouts against St. John's. She recorded six consecutive (third batter face in the bottom of the third to the first batter faced in the bottom of the fifth). She tied the career high in the win over #22/23 South Carolina.
She had quite the weekend in Columbia as she: threw two complete games, both shutouts | tied her career high 9 strikeouts against Northwestern | walked zero batters in win over #22/23 South Carolina | had a weekend ERA of 1.47 | had a .400 batting average. The shutouts were the first of her collegiate career.

Leftwich Sets the Tone

Head coach Lindsay Leftwich has begun her career setting the mark for best start (18-9) for a head coach in their first season leading the Wolfpack through the first 27 games .
The 13-3 record as of Feb. 28, which is highlighted by a 12 game win streak, is the best start to the season since 2022.
She is just the second head coach in program history to record two wins over top-25 (#8/9 Clemson and #22/23 South Carolina) opponents in their first season at the helm -- Shawn Rychcik recorded six in his first season (2012) as head coach of the Wolfpack.
