
Pack Falls in Rematch with Wolverines

ANN ARBOR, MI — The #5 NC State women's tennis team fell to #2 Michigan 4-1, Thursday evening at the Varsity Tennis Center.
The Pack opened the night by securing the point in doubles play. No. 9 Sophie Abrams and Anna Zyryanova won on court two after maintaining the lead. The duo of Gabriella Broadfoot and Abigail Rencheli battled back-and-forth with the Wolverines on court three, but came out on top to secure the point for the Pack.
Michigan jumped out to an early lead on courts three, five, and six in singles play. The Wolverines won on court five and six to take the 2-1 lead over the Pack.
Ana Zyryanova battled on court three. After dropping the first game 2-6, she won the second 6-3. Gala Mesochoritou bounced back for the Wolverines to defeat Zyryanova 6-3 in the third game to pick up the third point for the Wolverines.
Michigan picked its fourth point of the evening on court four. Abrams battled with Jaedan Brown for three games. After Abrams took the first 6-2, Brown bounced back with a 6-4 win. The third game was a back-and-forth battle, but Brown came out on top 6-3.
The Pack will head to Norman, OK to take on the Sooners on Sunday Feb. 25. Play is set to begin at 12pm.
