
No. 21 NC State Hosts Princeton In Three Match Opening Week

RALEIGH N.C.- No. 21 NC State returns to J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center this Friday, Jan. 19, to take on the Princeton Tigers in its second match of three this week.Â
ÂFans will be treated to free pizza and free admission for all in attendance.
ÂThe Wolfpack made early strides on Monday in its season opener against Northwestern. The Pack commanded a 6-1 victory over the Wildcats to claim its first win of 2024, the Wolfpack head into Friday's match against Princeton with a 1-0 record.
ÂThe Pack currently lead the Tigers 3-1 in all-time series, entering Friday's contest on a three-game win streak. This will be the fifth overall meeting between the two programs. The first meeting between the two programs came in 2003 as the Pack dropped a 5-2 decision at home. Since then, NC State has averaged a four-point margin of Victory in the three meetings since.

NC State continues regular season play standing at No. 21 in the ITA team rankings.Â
ÂJunior Joe Wayand continues to lead the Pack in singles rankings at No. 52 heading into Friday's match. Wayand left fans on the edge of their seats Monday coming back 11-9 in a third-set tiebreaker against opponent Northwestern's Greyson Casey.Â
ÂSenior Robin Catry also continues to back the Pack at No. 120 in ITA singles rankings.
ÂWayand and Martin Borisiouk held onto their win streak from the fall starting the 2024 season off with a 1-0 record over Northwestern. Defeating opponents Casey and Felix Nordby.Â
ÂPrinceton Preview:Â
The Tigers are set to begin their season Friday in a three-game North Carolina crosstown weekend. The Tigers will kick off their season in a double-header taking on NC Central (11:30 a.m.) then making the trip to Raleigh for a 5:30 p.m. start time against the Wolfpack.Â
ÂThe Tigers wrapped up their 2023 season with an overall record of 16-13.
ÂPrinceton landed two ITA rankings back in November, featuring No. 87 Singles player Ellis Short and No. 28 ranked doubles duo Fnu Nidunjiazan, and Paul Inchauspe. Short concluded fall play with a 9-3 singles record.Â

The Wolfpack will travel to Cambridge, Mass.on Sunday, Jan. 21 to take on No. 11 ranked Harvard in the first road match of the season, wrapping up it's three match opening week.Â
