
Pack Takes Care of Princeton, Wins 7-0

RALEIGH N.C. – No. 21 NC State dominated over Princeton Friday night, beating the visiting Tigers 7-0 in the second of three of the Wolfpack's opening week matches.
The Wolfpack only dropped one set en route to its second win of the 2024 dual match season.
Doubles:
Joe Wayand and Martin Borsiouk continued their win streak in doubles, defeating opponents Ellis Short and Filippos Astreinidis of Princeton 6-3 in the Pack's first win of the day. Luca Staeheli and Braden Shick then clinched the doubles point on court three with a 7-5 decision over Fnu Nidunjianzan and Alan Kam after going up a break early.
Singles:
Luca Staeheli and Fons Van Sambeek quickly put the Wolfpack a point away from the clinch with straight-sets wins on courts four and two. Staeheli got a ranked win against No. 87 Ellis Short (6-1, 6-3) and Van Sambeek put the Pack's advantage at 3-0 with a defeat of Fnu Nidunjianzan (6-2, 6-1).
No. 120 Robin Catry then clinched match point against opponent Paul Inchauspe by a score of 7-5, 6-1. Catry trailed 4-5 in the first set but rallied off three games in a row to come back and win the first frame before cruising in the second set.
Play continued on the remaining three courts where Braden Shick won his straight-sets match in a second-set tiebreaker 6-3, 7-6 (4), Martin Borisiouk cruised 6-1, 6-4 and Joe Wayand closed out the sweep 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-4).
