Pack Returns to Action This Weekend at the ECU Pirate, Nuttycombe Invitationals

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State men's and women's cross country teams are set to return to action Friday, October 13 in Madison, WI at the Nuttycombe Invitational and Saturday, October 14 in Greenville, NC at the ECU Pirate Invitational.

LAST TIME OUT
NC State is coming off of an impressive performance at the Joe Piane Invitational in which the women's team won the women's blue 5k race and the men's squad took home first in the men's open 5m race.
The women's team totaled 44 points en route to a first place victory. The Pack was led by Kelsey Chmiel who clocked in at 16:15.1 to finish second and freshman Leah Stephens who took fourth with a time of 16:24.0. Thanks to their impressive outings, Chmiel was named the ACC Women's Performer of the Week and Stephens was honored as the ACC Women's Freshman of the Week.
The men's squad finished first with 18 points and was paced by Zach Hughes, who ran a time of 24:35.4 to earn third place. Another men's team raced in the men's blue 5m where they placed fourth with 174 points. Brett Gardner led the way for the red and white in that race with a time of 23:54.9 that placed 17th.
PACK IN THE POLLS
The NC State women's cross country team remains the number one team in the country according to the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll. The men's team currently sits at #27 in the country.
