
#12 Wolfpack to Close Out Non-Conference Play with Pair of Home Matches

RALEIGH – The 12th-ranked NC State women's tennis team (3-1) is set for its final two non-conference matches of the regular season on Friday, Feb. 12 and Saturday, Feb. 13. NC State will take on Old Dominion at 1 p.m. on Friday before turning around to match up with No. 21 Tennessee at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
Due to health and safety recommendations and current state guidelines, matches at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center are closed to the public.
LAST TIME OUT:
NC State picked up its third dual match victory of the season on Jan. 31 as it defeated visiting Appalachian State by a 7-0 score. The Pack claimed the opening point with victories on all three doubles courts, and each singles player took care of their respective Mountaineer opponent in straight sets to complete the sweep.
PACK IN THE RANKINGS:
The Wolfpack maintained its No. 12 ranking in the Wednesday release of the Oracle ITA Division I Team Rankings. NC State has been featured in the national top 15 every week since Feb. 26, 2019.
The Pack started the year with four players featured in the individual rankings. NC State boasts two top-20 doubles pairs - Anna Rogers/Alana Smith (No. 2) and Adriana Reami/Jaeda Daniel (No. 16) - and three top-40 singles players - Smith (No. 23), Rogers (No. 35) and Reami (No. 38).
SCOUTING OLD DOMINION:
The Monarchs are 2-3 in the early stages of the 2021 campaign and 1-2 in true road duals. They have already faced two top-25 opponents this season, falling 5-2 to No. 8 Florida State and 7-0 to No. 22 UCF.
ODU senior Holly Hutchinson is the nation's 40th-ranked singles player, while Yulia Starodubtseva and Alesya Yakubovich are No. 8 nationally in doubles.
SCOUTING TENNESSEE:
The Volunteers moved up four spots in the most recent team rankings to check in at No. 21. The team owns a 5-1 record on the year, with its only loss coming to Virginia in its first match of ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
Three members of the Tennessee squad are ranked in singles - No. 52 Rebeka Mertena, No. 85 Johanna Silva and No. 118 Carly Briggs.
UP NEXT:
NC State steps into league action next weekend for the first of three-straight ACC road contests. The team kicks off its ACC slate on Feb. 20 at Wake Forest, with first serve set for 2 p.m. that day.
