RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's tennis garnered a pair of national honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the organization announced Tuesday. After first earning Carolina Regional recognition, assistant coach David Secker was named the ITA National Assistant Coach of the Year, while Victoria Osuigwe collected ITA National Rookie of the Year honors.
With two national award winners, NC State was one of three programs to receive multiple ITA honors, tying North Carolina and Texas A&M for the most in the nation.
Secker played an instrumental role in helping to lead the Wolfpack to its second ACC Championship and a 25-win campaign in 2026. Working alongside head coach Simon Earnshaw, Secker also helped guide Gabriella Broadfoot and Osuigwe to the program's second NCAA doubles national championship as NC State advanced to its fourth NCAA Elite Eight in the last six seasons.
Osuigwe delivered an outstanding debut season for the Wolfpack, emerging as one of the nation's top freshmen. The newcomer captured the NCAA doubles national championship alongside Broadfoot, earned doubles All-America honors and helped the pair finish the year ranked No. 2 nationally. She also excelled in singles play, posting a 21-5 dual-match record while providing several match-clinching victories throughout the season.
The Wolfpack will begin the 2026-27 campaign this fall after making its fourth NCAA Elite Eight appearance in the last six seasons and capturing the program's second ACC Championship in 2026.
