RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's tennis has been selected for three Carolina Regional Awards by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the organization announced Tuesday. Assistant coach David Secker was named ITA Assistant Coach of the Year, Mia Slama earned ITA Player to Watch honors, and Victoria Osuigwe was tabbed ITA Rookie of the Year.
Of the seven awards presented annually in each region by the ITA, the Wolfpack earned three in the Carolina Region, the most of any school in the region.
Each year, the ITA recognizes coaches and student-athletes across 13 regions in the United States for their excellence on the court and in the community throughout the season. National award winners will be announced June 16.
In his ninth season as assistant coach in 2025-26, Secker helped guide the Wolfpack to its second ACC Championship and a 25-win season, the program's third-most dual-match wins during his tenure. Secker also coached Gabriella Broadfoot and Osuigwe to the program's second NCAA doubles national title, while the team advanced to its fourth NCAA Elite Eight in the last six seasons.
Slama delivered a breakout sophomore season and earned ITA Singles All-America honors. She posted a 14-8 dual-match record this spring, including a 6-2 mark in ACC play, primarily at No. 1 singles (13-5). Slama finished the year ranked No. 20 nationally in singles, a career high and the fifth-highest final ranking in program history.
Osuigwe made an immediate impact in her first season in Raleigh, helping NC State win its second NCAA doubles national championship with Broadfoot at the NCAA Doubles Championship. The duo earned ITA All-America honors and finished ranked No. 2 nationally. In singles, Osuigwe posted a 21-5 dual-match record, primarily at No. 5, and delivered multiple clinching wins, including the NCAA Sweet 16 match.
The Wolfpack will begin the 2026-27 campaign this fall after making its fourth NCAA Elite Eight appearance in the last six seasons and capturing the program's second ACC Championship in 2026.
