LAST TIME OUT:
NC State is coming off a 1-1 record posted at last week's ITA Kick-Off Weekend tournament that it hosted in Raleigh for the second year in a row. The Pack dropped its opening match of the event by a narrow 4-3 decision to Northwestern but bounced back to blank 18th-ranked UCF by a 4-0 score the following day. It was the team's second victory over a ranked opponent this season as it also defeated No. 14 South Carolina to open dual-match action.
ROGERS IS ROLLING:
Back for her fifth year, Wolfpack senior Anna Rogers is off to a perfect start in singles play. She has compiled a perfect 8-0 singles record through two season-opening tournaments and three dual matches. That record includes four victories over opponents ranked in the individual top 80.
PACK IN THE RANKINGS:
The Wolfpack maintained its spot in the top 15 of the Oracle ITA Division I Team Rankings as it was tabbed No. 12 in Wednesday's national poll. NC State has been featured in the national top 15 every week since Feb. 26, 2019.
SCOUTING APP STATE:
Sunday marks the Mountaineers' 2021 season opener. Last year, the squad went 6-4 in a season that was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2019, Appalachian State's squad won the regular-season Sun Belt title.
The Pack is a perfect 16-0 over the Mountaineers in the all-time series between the two squads. They last met on Jan. 20, 2020 in a match that NC State won by a 6-1 final score.
UP NEXT:
The Wolfpack is set to round out its non-conference schedule with back-to-back home duals as it hosts Old Dominion on Friday, Feb. 12 and Tennessee on Saturday, Feb. 13.
