
Hartl Collects First Top 10 Finish Of Career At Lady Puerto Rico Classic

RIO Mar, Puerto Rico – NC State women's golf's Monika Hartl fired a career-best two-under par 70 on Tuesday at the final day of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic en route to collecting the first top 10 finish of her career. The sophomore completed the tournament with a one-over par 217 to finish in a tie for seventh out of 81 players for her second top 20 showing at NC State.
Freshman Lea Klimentova, who competed as an individual in the Puerto Rico, also turned in the best finish of her career as she carded a one-over 73 in the final round for a 54-hole score of 220 (+4) to finish T15th.
Despite posting a ten–over par 298 on Tuesday for its best round of the tournament, the Wolfpack came in 13th of 14 teams with a score of 905 (+41).
Hosted by Purdue at the Rio Mar Country Club, No. 11 Kent State won the team title with a two-over 866, while No. 7 Arkansas (870, +6) and Virginia Tech (878, +14) rounded out the podium.
Laura Kowohl shaved three strokes off of Monday's score to turn in a 75 (+3), to finish T40th with a nine-over 225. Mim Sangkapong improved five strokes from her first two rounds, carding a 73 to finish four strokes behind Kowohl in 57th.
India Clyburn and Naomi Ko posted rounds of 80 and 82, respectively, to finish T68th and 79th with tournament scores of 235 (+19) and 241 (+25).
NC State returns to action Feb. 17-19 at the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, La.
