
Women’s Golf In Fifth After Opening Round Of Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Led by Monika Hartl's career-low 69 (-3) on Sunday at English Turn Country Club, the NC State women's golf team sits in a two-way tie for fifth place out of 18 teams at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans, La. Against a tough field that features nine nationally-ranked teams, the Wolfpack shot a combined 295 (+7).
No. 3 Texas (285, -3) leads the field, while No. 5 Duke (286, -2) and No. 1 Southern Cal (289, +1) are in second and third, respectively. In the individual standings, Hartl is in a three-way tie for second at three-under and is one stroke back from Duke's Ana Belac. Her opening round featured six birdies and three bogeys.
Lea Klimentova and Mim Sangkapong both carded a three-over 75 to sit in a tie for 33rd out of 93 players, and India Clyburn is one stroke back in a tie for 46th. Laura Kowohl rounded out the Pack's scoring on Sunday with a six-over par 78 to share a tie for 69th.
The Pack returns to action Monday in New Orleans for round two, as it will tee off hole one between 10:40 and 11:12 a.m. ET with South Carolina and Florida.
