
Women’s Golf To Open Spring Season At Lady Puerto Rico Classic

RALEIGH – The NC State women's golf team is set to open its spring season Sunday at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. The tournament is slated to run through Tuesday and the Wolfpack is one of six teams ranked among the top 50 of the latest GolfWeek rankings in the field.
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
Course – Rio Mar Country Club
Par – 71
Yards – 5,981
Format – 54 holes (18 holes Sunday, Monday, Tuesday)
Live Scoring – Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com
Tee Times – The first round will be an 8 a.m. AST shotgun start, as the Pack will be paired with players from Iowa State, East Carolina and Maryland. Pairings for the final two rounds will be based upon results from the previous round.
FALL RECAP
The Pack played in four tournaments during the fall portion of its season, highlighted by a season-opening win at the Ocean Course Invitational in September. The team also finished in the top 10 at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship (10th) and Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational (7th).
Junior Laura Kowohl turned in a team-best 72.00 stroke average in the fall and finished in the top 20 of three events. She placed second at the Ocean Course Invitational, turning in a career-best finish and score of 214 (-5).
India Clyburn and Naomi Ko additionally earned top 20 finishes at the Ocean Course Invitational, while the team posted 16 rounds at even or under par.
The Pack additionally added some depth to its roster as Wassawan Sangkapong (Mim) joined the program this semester. She is a sophomore transfer from Gardner-Webb.
LAST YEAR AT THE LADY PUERTO RICO CLASSIC
NC State has played in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic 10 out of the last 11 years. Last season the Pack captured the team title and Ko earned medalist honors.
