
McGetrick Leading Pack After First Round Of Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Lindsay McGetrick shot a 1-under 71 to lead the NC State women's golf team in the first round of the Landfall Tradition on Friday.
McGetrick, who carded four birdies in her first six holes, finished the first day tied for 14th of 99 players. The senior from Colorado finished with a 34 on the front nine and was just +1 on the back.
Augusta James (+2) tied for 36th and Vivian Tsui (+5) tied for 63rd. Crystal Huang, in the lineup for the first time in her career, shot 79 and Rachael Taylor carded 81. Cecily Overbey, playing as an individual, carded a 78.
NC State (+13) finished the first day 15th of 18 teams. The Wolfpack is seven shots ahead of Penn State and 14 shots ahead of Michigan State and host school UNCW. Purdue (-5) leads the field by three shots over Wake Forest (-2).
"We are looking forward to fighting the next two days," head coach Page Marsh. "Today didn't go as we wanted but we are excited to see where the next couple of days takes us. We believe in ourselves and this team."
NC State will continue play at the Landfall Tradition Saturday morning. Taylor will start the second round for the Pack when she tees off on the 10th hole at 9:15 a.m.
