
NC State Slides to Seventh in Second Round of ACCs

GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State women’s golf slipped from fourth to seventh in the second round of the 2012 ACC Championship Saturday at the 6,224 yard, par 71 Sedgefield Country Club.
Brittany Marchand represents the Wolfpack’s best chance at an All-ACC performer spot, settling into a tie for 15th with one round to play. Marchand backed up an opening round 73 with a 7-over par 78 for a 9-over 151 total.
Ana Menendez also carded a 78, putting her two shots back of Marchand in a tie for 22nd. Augusta James hung onto a share of 27th after a 79. Vivian Tsui rounded out the Pack’s team scorecard with another 79, and finds herself in 30th position.
After a 15-over 299 on Friday, State totaled a 314 to lose three spots on the leaderboard. The Pack’s 45-over 613 total trails Maryland by four, Virginia and Wake Forest by 10, and Florida State by 11.
Duke held strong in first with a 19-over 303, good for a nine stroke lead going into Sunday. Duke’s Lindy Duncan leads the individual competition with a 3-under 139, bolstered by Saturday’s tournament-best tying 69.
