KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Junior Julie Saleeby fired a one-over 73 to lead the NC State women’s golf team into a tie for fifth place on Friday after day one of the Mercedes-Benz Women’s Collegiate Championship at Fox Den Country Club.
The Wolfpack picked up where the team left off last year after finishing second in this event by shooting a team score of +14 (302) and is tied with 24th-ranked South Carolina among a field of 18 teams, with 13 ranked in the top-50 nationally.
Saleeby is tied for eighth on the individual leaderboard after her round today. She had three birdies to post her best round of the fall so far.
Sophomore Meghan Chapman and senior Emily Street each shot a four-over 76 to tie for 31st through 18 holes.
Chapman was also steady today with 14 pars and four bogeys, while Street’s trek around the course was a bit different with three birdies, four bogeys and one triple.
