
Women's Golf In 10th at Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. No. 34 NC State shot a +31 (319) team total during the first round of the Landfall Tradition to place 10th among 12 teams at the rain-drenched Country Club of Landfall Pines-Ocean course, a par 72, 6,072-yard Jack Nicklaus layout.
Junior Lauren Doughtie and sophomore Kathleen Strandberg are tied for 38th after they each shot seven-over rounds of 79 to lead NC State after 18 holes of the scheduled 54-hole tournament.
Doughtie had one birdie on the day at the par-5 8th hole, but also had two double bogeys and four bogeys.
Strandberg started off with a birdie at the par-5 2nd hole and was at +2 at the turn, but five bogeys on the back nine dropped her back in the field.
Sophomore Joanna Saleeby shot an 80 and is tied for 42nd. She had one birdie at the par-4 4th hole to highlight her round.
Senior Stephanie Derrey and sophomore Emily Street each fired rounds of 81 for the Wolfpack and are tied for 47th.
Derrey had a team-best two birdies on her round at the par-4 14th and 17th holes.
Street could only muster 11 pars on her round.
Purdue is atop the leaderboard with a team score of -1 (287). The Boilermakers’ Christal Boeljon leads the field at -4 (68).
Second round action continues at 9:12 am on Saturday.
