Mountcastle Finishes Third At ACC Championship

PINEHURST, N.C. - Nancy Mountcastle earned the bronze medal at the ACC Women's Golf Championship Sunday afternoon, finishing six strokes over par and leading NC State to a sixth place finish on the par 72 Pinehurst #8. Her third place finish is the best ever by a Wolfpack women's golfer at the ACC Championship.
Stephanie Derrey shot three over in the first round and ended up tied for 22nd at 17 over. Lorraine Ballerano carded five over first and third rounds, tying for 24th at 18 over. Molly Birmingham fired four over in the first round and came in tied for 30th. Jessica Vincent rebounded after a tough first two days to shoot four over in the final round and finished 39th.
Top-ranked Duke won the three-day, 54-hole, nine-team tournament at 21 over and Blue Devil took home medalist honors with a four under total. NC State awaits an invitation to the NCAA Regional Championship May 11-13. Complete results from the ACC Championship are available at www.golfstat.com.
