
Dean Fires Three-Over In Second Round

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. - The NC State women's golf team improved four strokes in the second round of the Papa John's Collegiate Monday morning to move up a spot in the 12 team field and is now tied with Louisville for seventh place with 18 holes to go. Ashlee Dean led the Wolfpack with a three-over-par score at Don Shula's par 72, 6,190-yard Golf Course. An improvement of five strokes from her opening round score, Dean is tied for 27th and only two strokes behind team leader, Lorraine Ballerano.
Ballerano is nine-over for the tournament and tied for 19th place. One stroke behind her is Lauren Harling, who followed up an opening round score of 78 with a 76. The freshman from Laurinburg, N.C., is tied for 23rd. Molly Birmingham improved two strokes from the first to second round and Stephanie Derrey shaved three off her first round total.
The host team, Miami, leads the field at 19-over and Beth Irwin from Mississippi State is in first place individually at one-over. The Papa John's Collegiate concludes Tuesday with a final round of 18 holes.
