Women’s Soccer Earns Pair of ACC Weekly Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - NC State women's soccer earned a pair of ACC weekly honors following its 3-0 shutout victory over Virginia Tech, with Alex Mohr named Co-Defensive Player of the Week and Amor Leigh Martin Esteban earning Freshman of the Week honors.
The honors mark the second consecutive season that the Wolfpack has earned multiple ACC weekly awards in the same week, while also marking the first conference weekly honor for both Mohr and Martin Esteban.
Mohr, a fifth year from Poway, California, earned her first ACC weekly honor after helping lead the Wolfpack defense to its fourth shutout of the season. The NC State back line held Virginia Tech to 11 shots and five corner kicks while keeping the Hokies off the scoreboard. Mohr also recorded a pair of assists, marking the first two helpers of her career. She assisted on Jade Bordeleau's game-opening goal and Antonella Mazziotto's late insurance goal.
Martin Esteban, a freshman from Motril, Spain, made her first start in goal since Aug. 16 at VCU, recording the first clean sheet of her career in the 3-0 victory. She made three saves on Virginia Tech's 11 shots to earn the shutout and become the Pack's second freshman this season with a clean sheet victory in goal.
With this week's pair of ACC honors, the Wolfpack now has three conference weekly awards this season. Bordeleau previously earned Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 1.
NC State will next head to Wake Forest for a road contest against the Demon Deacons on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 5 p.m. The match will air on ACCNX.
