Women’s Soccer’s Season-Opening Unbeaten Run Ends in Loss to Miami

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's soccer fell to Miami, 2-1, on a late 80th-minute goal Sunday afternoon at Dail Soccer Stadium. Yuna Aoki scored the Wolfpack's lone goal, marking her third of the season.
The loss moved NC State to 8-1-2, ending the Wolfpack's 10-match unbeaten run to open the season. The Pack's 8-0-2 start marked its best opening to a season since 1991.
Miami opened the scoring in the 10th minute on a goal from Madelynn Sadusky, marking just the second time this season NC State has conceded the first goal of a match.
The Hurricanes' lead did not last long, as Aoki equalized in the 18th minute with her third goal of the season. Erica Roberts' shot was blocked by the Miami defense, but the rebound fell to Aoki, who finished from close range to level the match at 1-1.
The teams entered halftime tied, with NC State holding a slight 7-6 advantage in shots. The Wolfpack came out attacking in the second half, outshooting Miami, 7-1, over the final 45 minutes.
Despite the Wolfpack's offensive pressure, Miami found the breakthrough in the 80th minute when Sadusky scored her second goal of the afternoon. She fired a shot from near midfield that found the back of the net to give the Hurricanes the lead late in the match. Sadusky became the first player to record a multi-goal game against NC State this season.
