CARY, N.C. - No. 13 and third-seeded NC State women's tennis defeated No. 6 and second-seeded North Carolina, 4-2, to advance to the ACC Women's Tennis Championship final Saturday afternoon at Cary Tennis Park. The win sends the Wolfpack to the championship match for the first time since 2023, when the program captured its lone ACC title.
No. 43 Mia Slama delivered the match-clinching victory in dramatic fashion, rallying from a set down to defeat 2025 NCAA Singles Champion No. 2 Reese Brantmeier in three sets on court one.
NC State secured the doubles point for the second time this season against the Tar Heels with a pair of top 10 wins on courts one and two. No. 4 Victoria Osuigwe and Gabriella Broadfoot opened play with a 6-2 win over No. 7 Ange Oby Kajuru and Susanna Maltby, before No. 79 Jasmine Conway and Anna Zyryanova clinched the point with a 7-5 victory over No. 5 Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton.
In singles play, the Wolfpack gained early momentum by claiming first sets on courts two, three, four and six. No. 73 Lavinia Tanasie extended the lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-4 win over No. 118 Alanis Hamilton on court four. No. 53 Broadfoot followed with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over No. 36 Tatum Evans on court three to give NC State a 3-0 advantage.
North Carolina responded with wins on courts two and six to cut the deficit to 3-2, but the comeback fell short as Slama sealed the match on the top court. After dropping the opening set, the sophomore battled back to win the final two sets, 7-6(7) and 7-5, securing NC State's highest-ranked singles win of the season.
The victory advances NC State to the ACC Championship final, where the Wolfpack will face top-seeded Virginia, which defeated Duke, 4-2, in the semifinal round.
